During all this time, I never stopped thinking about escape(逃跑). When I travelled across to the other side of the island, I could see the other islands, and I said to myself, “Perhaps I can get there with a boat. Perhaps I can get back to England one day.”

So I decided to make myself a boat. I cut down a big tree, and then began to make a long hole in it. It was hard work, but about six months later, I had a very fine canoe(獨(dú)木舟). Next, I had to get it down to the sea. How silly I was! Why didn’t I think carefully before I began to work? Of course, the canoe was too heavy. I couldn’t move it! I pulled and pushed and tried everything, but it didn’t move. I was very unhappy for a long time after that.

In my sixth year on the island, I did make myself a smaller canoe, but I did not try to escape in it. The boat was too small for a long journey, and I did not want to die at sea. The island was my home now, and I was just happy to be alive. A year or two later, I made myself a second canoe on the other side of the island. I also built myself a second house there, and so I had two homes.

I kept food and tools at both of my houses, and also wild goats. There were many goats on the island, and I made fields with high fences to keep them in. They learnt to take food from me, and soon I had goats’ milk to drink every day. I also worked hard in my corn fields. And so, many years went by.

Reading is the key to school success and,like any skill,it takes practice. A child learns to walk by practicing until he no longer has to think about how to put one foot in front of the other. An excellent sportsman practices until he can play quickly, correctly and without thinking. Educators call it “automaticity(自動(dòng)性)”.

A child learns to read by sounding out the letters and finding the meaning of the words. With practice, he stumbles less and less, reading by the phrase. With automaticity, he doesn’t have to think about the meaning of words, so he can give all his attention to the meaning of the text.[

It can begin as early as first grade. In a recent study of children in Illinois schools, Alan Rossman of Northwestern University found that automatic readers in the first grade not only read almost three times as fast as the others, but also got better results in exams.

According to Rossman, the key to automaticity is the amount(數(shù)量)of time a child spends reading, not his IQ. Any child who spends at least 3.5 to 4 hours a week reading books, magazines or newspapers will probably reach automaticity. It can happen if a child turns off TV just one night for reading at home.

You can test yourself by reading something new which is suitable for your level. If you read aloud with expression, with a sense of the meaning of the sentences, you probably are an automatic reader. If you read brokenly, one word at a time, without expression or meaning, you need more practice.

增加語(yǔ)言輸入,培養(yǎng)孩子興趣

初二的孩子,對(duì)學(xué)習(xí)方面的自覺(jué)性不是很高,因此要通過(guò)增加他與語(yǔ)料接觸的機(jī)會(huì),以此來(lái)培養(yǎng)他對(duì)英語(yǔ)的興趣。

可以給他介紹一些課外英語(yǔ)閱讀材料,這個(gè)材料不要是枯燥生硬的教材,而是適合初二孩子閱讀的英文故事,詞匯量盡量在他的能力以上2%-5%,屬于夠一夠可以摘到的桃子,既可以讓他讀得懂,也能夠幫助擴(kuò)充詞匯量。

注重單詞積累

對(duì)于初二孩子來(lái)說(shuō),屬于英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)的初級(jí)階段,單詞是需要關(guān)注的重點(diǎn)。

作為輔導(dǎo)老師,可以根據(jù)孩子的詞匯掌握情況和學(xué)習(xí)進(jìn)度,優(yōu)先劃好重點(diǎn),讓孩子課前預(yù)習(xí)以及背誦單詞,在下一次輔導(dǎo)課時(shí),首先對(duì)該課單詞進(jìn)行默寫(xiě)查看掌握情況,授課時(shí)對(duì)孩子陌生的單詞重點(diǎn)提點(diǎn)。

語(yǔ)法是孩子是否能夠讀懂長(zhǎng)難句的通行證,因此在學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的初中階段,語(yǔ)法的學(xué)習(xí)尤為重要。

在進(jìn)行課程輔導(dǎo)時(shí),對(duì)于語(yǔ)法知識(shí)需要進(jìn)行細(xì)致系統(tǒng)地講解,同一知識(shí)點(diǎn)在不同課程中可以進(jìn)行反復(fù)講解,并通過(guò)配套練題目讓孩子進(jìn)行鞏固訓(xùn)練。

分析考卷,針對(duì)性訓(xùn)練

不同孩子,知識(shí)的薄弱點(diǎn)有所區(qū)別,可以通過(guò)分析孩子在學(xué)校的測(cè)驗(yàn)試題,找出他的薄弱項(xiàng),若是完形填空失分率高,則針對(duì)性地讓孩子進(jìn)行大量完形填空題的訓(xùn)練,并分析錯(cuò)題原因。若是閱讀理解失分率高,則同理訓(xùn)練閱讀能力。
