高考英語增加聽力診斷已經(jīng)進行了兩年試點，從這兩年的試題看，高考英語聽力診斷有以下幾個特點：
1.語速特點：聽力部分的朗讀速度約為每分鐘42～45個單詞，低于或相當于高中英語教學大綱中規(guī)定的語速。
2.語音特點：在高考英語的診斷說明中，并沒有對聽力部分的語音做出任何規(guī)定。這兩年高考英語聽力試題一般都是英音。但是語言學習一定要體現(xiàn)出其真實性、交際性和實用性。所以，以后的聽力部分肯定也會出現(xiàn)美音，澳大利亞式英語發(fā)音，甚至還會有背景音。
3.內(nèi)容特點：來源于生活，體現(xiàn)生活，和我們?nèi)粘Ｉ钣忻芮新?lián)系。具體涉及到的話題有：問路，購物，助人，詢問時間，問候，新聞，約會，打電話，等等。話題的內(nèi)容基本上都是在教學大綱規(guī)定的高中生英語知識與能力要求的范圍內(nèi)。
4.試題特點：
(1)要求考生對特定情景中的對話或獨白的整體輸入和理解。
例1，(2000年高考英語聽力診斷先進節(jié)第三段對話)
M：Well，I’d better be going home now.It’s been great seeing you again.
W：Oh，it was nice seeing you，too.
Q：What are the two speakers doing?
A.Enjoying meeting each other.
B.Saying good-bay to each other
C.Planning to see each other.
這是一組非常簡單的對話，但是如果考生沒注意到先進個人所講的I’d better be going home now.和第二個人講的：it was nice seeing you again.中的was的話，就有可能會選擇A選項。
(2)要求考生對特定情景中表達的信息有效的輸入和準確的理解。
例2(2000年高考英語聽力診斷先進節(jié)第二段對話)
M：I’m afraid we’ll miss the train.What time is it now?
W：It’s 6：15.There are 10minutes left.Let’s hurry.
Q：What time does the train leave?
A：At 6：15B：At 6：25C：At 6：50
如果考生只是注意到It’s6：15，而沒注意到There are 10minutes left以及問的是“火車幾點鐘開”的話，便會選A。
(3)考查考生同時存貯和加工多條信息的能力
聽力診斷的第二部分是四段長對話和一段獨白，長對話不是一人一句，而有可能一人講數(shù)句話。
例3(2000年高考英語聽力診斷第二節(jié)第7段對話)
W：Excuse me.How can I get to the station please?
M：The station，the station，let me see，yes.You can go down...no.Go straight on until you come to a cinema.Let’s see now—that’s the second turning on your right.The cinema’s on the corner.Turn right at the cinema and you’ll be in Bridge Street.I think it’s Bridge Street.Go a long Bridge Street for a few minutes and then take the second—no，not the second，the first，that’s right，the first turning on your left.The station is straight ahead，right in front of you.

A.On the corner of Bridge Street
